UNCOVERING THREE COMMON MISTAKES WOMEN MAKE IN MARRIAGE

  1. Not Making your Husband a Top Priority in your Marriage

Your spouse should come first in marriage. There will be a time, when your children will leave home to cater for themselves leaving you and your spouse alone, who will then be like a stranger to you. Your husband should be a top priority in your relationship.  When you put your husband first, your kids will learn and understand how important marriage is to you. This will be of great benefit to them.  Giving your children so much time can take away the precious and valuable time that you could spend with your spouse. Do not give your kids all the time to the point where your marriage suffers. Your children will find more stability and happiness from a loving and healthy home.

     2.  Your Tone of Voice

Do not use an intimidating or threatening tone when talking to your husband.  Be mindful, it is your husband you are talking to and not your child. Tone of voice goes a long way, as we’ve all experienced, but sometimes we forget to keep our own in check. Use to a great degree that feminine voice GOD has given you without any trace of negativity underlying your tone.  If you’re addressing a problem in your relationship, try to do so constructively, maintain a gentle and even tone of voice.  Express yourself in a respectful way,” rather than speaking in an annoying and irritated voice.

3.   Your Body, His Pride

“Cleanliness is next to Godliness”, they say.  Make an effort to look nice for your spouse (and for you). It is a simple way to show him that you care about him, and about yourself. God gave us our bodies and expects us to treat them good (not defile them). Being married does not mean you should not take care of yourself. Being married does not mean you should look unkept at home. Looking sweet gives your husband the pleasure of looking forward to being with you at all times. You should not smell of egwusi or ogbono soup (native soups popularly eaten in Nigeria) after cooking or your hands smelling of onions or garlic.  Take a shower or get your fragrance ready to use once you are done.  Do not forget that your husband loves you for who you are and is not looking for the perfect person! He fell in love with you and just wants you the way you are! Stay delightful for him at all times.
